Program Overview:

The Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) is a graduate academic degree designed to satisfy the academic component of professional accreditation bodies, to be followed by a period of practical training prior to professional examination and registration. Noted Architects, experienced subject experts from premier institutions and construction specialists together have designed a unique curriculum for B Arch program to produce top class architects to meet present day challenges. The curriculum among others include historical foundations of architecture and culture, architectural drawing, building materials, building construction, computer aided visualization, climate in environment, design structures, urban design, art appreciation, human settlements, interior design, urban housing, landscape and ecology, earthquake resistance architecture, construction technology, construction and project management, architectural journalism and photography, financial administration, accounts and auditing.

Apart from well trained core faculty and invited faculty from practicing field, ample working space, excellent infrastructure, spacious studios, material museum, the construction yard, electric pottery, exhibition hall, adequate & effective furniture, computer laboratory with internet connectivity, fully air conditioned library comprising of wealth of learning resources in print and online, formulate the working environment for the students of Architecture. The Consultancy Cell through which students and faculty undertake various institutional and conservation projects combines practical experience along with theoretical foundations of architecture, design and allied areas. Regular seminars and workshops along with extension lectures on various pertinent issues related to architecture and design are part of teaching and learning process.

Career Opportunities

Graduates in Architecture can work as designer in construction whose skills can help clients in balancing the requirements of appearance, financial budget and time frame. They also have opportunities to work as architects in government organizations such as Public Works Department, the Archaeological Department, Ministry of Defense, National Building Organization, Town and Country Planning Organization, National Institute of Urban Affairs, Departments of Railways, Post and Telegraphs, Public Sector Undertakings, Housing and Urban Development Corporation, National Building Construction Corporation Ltd., etc. Other organizations / bodies like State Departments, Housing Boards, Local Bodies for construction works, Builders, Architecture Firms, Consultants, etc. also hire architects. Architects working independently have ample scope in terms of earning through consultancy fee.

According to current demand for architects, India needs more than 10,000 trained professionals in various government and private organizations as against very small number of well trained architects coming from top notch architecture institutions.
